The AUTOGUARD ® coupling has the potential to be used with various gaskets, increasing the options for application. The AUTOGUARD ® coupling can be converted or retrofitted according your requirements. Depending on the gasket, AUTOGUARD ® can adapt it’s functionality whilst maintaining the same level of safety.

The operating temperature depends primarily on the choice of gasket used. The AUTOGUARD ® coupling in combination with the VOT PTFE/Viton gasket offers a temperature range from -30° up to +100°C.

YES, the patented safety levers of AUTOGUARD ® couplings are lockable in the same way as on the Autolok® coupling.

The AUTOGUARD ® coupling was developed and patented by BORER AG, Switzerland. The basis was formed by various customer suggestions, which were not satisfied with the conventional lever couplings. With the AUTOGUARD ® coupling, pressure systems with locking lever coupling can now be safely coupled and uncoupled for the first time.
Function
The additional built-in function of AUTOGUARD ® protects the employee from injuries caused b the coupling accidentally breaking off the male part. If the contected tube/vessel is under pressure and the coupling is released, the automatic protection function comes into play, which blocks the coupling on the male part until the pressure is released.
The functionality is purely mechanical and does not require any additional elements.
While standard products only know thwo positions (closed/open), the AUTOGUARD ® coupling offers a half-open position. This prevents for example, the hose assembly from being knocked off, caused b mishandling or residual pressure in the system.
YES, If the AUTOGUARD ® is assembled with the BORER patented VOT gasket, the existing pressure will be released within the AUTOGUARD ® coupling.
NO, Elastomeric gaskets have a higher compression set than VOT gaskets. The AUTOGUARD ® coupling therefore remains tight even when it is half open an cannot be unlocked from the male part (Kamlok® male part).
However, this cannot be conclusively assessed because there are many seals on the market that are used and so far not all of them have been able to be tested.
If you haven any doubts, it is always advisable to use the original gaskets.
YES, the AUTOGUARD ® also works when it is dirty.
YES, The AUTOGUARD ® is a purely mechanical solution and remeins effective even in the event of power failure. However, it should be noted that a power failure can have an impact on any third-party systems such as pumps or valves.
The AUTOGUARD ® system does not have its own ignition source and can therefore be used in ATEX zones.
YES, Poka Yoke is a method in preventive quality assurance and lean management. It is intended to increase product quality by avoiding errors. As with the AUTOGUARD ®, the principle behind Poka Yoke is mostly a cost-effective and technical adjustment. This ensures that incorrect actions in the manufacturing process do not lead to defects in the production, the system or the process.

Gasket
VOT gasket is a collar gasket made of pure PTFE, white with VITON core O-ring. The Gasket was developed by BORER AG in combination with the AUTOGUARD coupler. The Viton-O-Ring is completely encapsulated. In comparison to similar products, the VOT gasket does not breake even when coupled several times and at different temperatures. The AUTOGUARD ® coupling in combination with the VOT gasket offers maximum safety.
YES, The AUTOGUARD ® coupling body corresponds to DIN EN 14420-7 standard, which means, that all gaskets available on the market can also be used.
